Eagle scholarships January 2010: great talents looking for support! 02-01-2010 |
| We opened the year 2010 energetically, by organizing the Eagle Scholarship selection process today, on January 2nd. We identified some truly talented children. These children have it in them to accomplish a lot in life if given the opportunity. As Kamitei - with your support - we can make it happen. If you provide general support to Kamitei you are already helping. If you are particularly attracted to a scholarship program and want to do something extra, then this is a great opportunity: make your long-term commitment to the group of 2010 students and keep track of how they are doing over time. | Read more... |

Standard 7 Results 2009: Kamitei primary schools score above the national average 20-12-2009 |
| The standard 7 students of all primary schools in Tanzania did their national exams two months ago and most results are now in for the primary schools that Kamitei supports: 57% of the students passed their exams for secondary education, which is almost 10% above the national average and better still if compared to the average scores in rural areas (this is so because the rural areas typically score worse than the city areas like Dar es Salaam (70%) and Arusha (66%)). | Read more... |

Teacher trip to Gilala Primary School 15-11-2009 |
| Virtually all teachers of the 8 primary schools that Kamitei supports, 60 in total, joined on a field trip to Gilala Primary School this month. It was one of the various events that we organised for and with the primary school teachers during the past few months to improve the quality of education. We had two plenary workshops in Kilimatembo and teacher visitations as well. The events help a lot in sharing practices and boosting motivation. | Read more... |

Kainam secondary school construction - update 20-05-2009 |
| The Kainam community has seen some serious construction during the past couple of months. During this period, we completed two class rooms, a 2-in-1 teacher house and an admin block for Kainam's secondary school, co-funded by the Turing Foundation from the Netherlands, Kamitei and the community itself. As with Kilimatembo's new secondary school that we helped building, we are well on track in getting Kainam's secondary school up to full capacity in the next few years. | Read more... |

Celebrating successes - Inauguration of Kilimatembo Assembly Hall 20-02-2009 |
| The new assembly hall of Kilimatembo secondary school had been in use for some time already, but the official inauguration took place on 14 February, in the presence of its major sponsor, the Levecke Family from Belgium. Hundreds of students and community members participated in the joyful event. It was a great opportunity to explain once more the benefits of good education to the larger public (many community members didn't receive education themselves) and to explain the various activities under the community program to improve the education opportunities for the children of Kilimatembo. | Read more... |
